Hakarimata Walkway in Hakarimata Range is bout 14km long from the northern end (Parker Road) to southern end (Waingaro Road).

A few minutes further on, there's the kauri grove bush viewpoint. The Hakarimata Scenic Reserve is located 17 km north-west of Hamilton, near Ngaruawahia. The 12km-long Hakarimata Walkway offers a full day walk through native bush including towering kauri and totara trees. Dedicated Huntly locals supported by the Waikato District Council and key funders have transformed this wilderness into Huntly's most sought after attraction. This is a good sharp training track for those wanting an offroad run with a challenge. Since the once neglected Hakarimata Walkway joined the Te Araroa Trail, it’s become a far cry from the rough reputation it once had, though the distance between track ends has not decreased, so a car parked either end is ideal. Follow the Waterworks Walk to just before the dam where the track branches off to the right and climbs steeply up a well constructed set of steps and stairs.
