The trauma team works closely with the Emergency Department, managing the response to trauma patients in the ED and follow-up care for admitted patients as required. The trauma team leader briefs the team on the information they have received from the pre-hospital team, outlines what they expect to happen, and allocates roles to the team. The trauma center is staffed by in-hospital, board-certified trauma surgeons who are available 24/7 for immediate care who work under the guidance of an interim trauma director.
